If this clip doesn't make you smile, seek professional help! This is sooo cute and the orangutan just cracks me up....what a scene stealer! Thanks, Jan, it made my day!
Good News: Rita seems to be doing better and looking good. I stopped by on Wednesday, the first time since she's been taking chemo. She got a very good report from her doctor and that was a real boost. The chemo still knocks her out but I think she is encouraged that there seems to be positive results. The day before my visit she had been out to get her hair and nails done. She looked great......and I'm so pleased. She was to have another treatment the following day so I'm glad I caught her at a good time.
Nature Notes: We have been having fantastic weather - cooler, but mild and sunny, sunny, sunny. The local wildlife seems to be enjoying it as much as we are. One morning not long ago, within a few blocks of the house, a young buck was crossing the road. He had a small rack of antlers and was so pretty to watch - I just stopped and let him pass. A few nights later in hearly the same spot, there was two deer grazing in someone's yard. Again, I just stopped and took in in. They can play havoc with yard plants, but they are so pretty to watch. And, just when I had given up, I spotted dolphins again, which is a treat- but I definitely can't stop in traffic to watch them.
In the News: Like everyone else, I'm distraught over the shooting at Fort Hood - and the minute I saw the name of the shooter, I could imagine the negative/devisive stereotypes and scenarios that were reinforced. It's all such a shame on so many levels, and my heart aches for those who lost loved ones in such a senseless act. I'm sure the shooter was in some type of mental and/or emotional anquish, but what mystifies me is that the now people feel the need to take out as many people -at random - as they possibly can before getting themselves killed. I don't understand that. When did we become so disconnected from one another?
Otherwise, it's been a quiet week. Work trudges on and I'm a week closer to retirement, not that I'm counting. There isn't a lot that "needs" doing this weekend so I'm going to take it easy. Tomorrow Janeen and I are going to see Auldbrass in Yamassee, which is an estate designed by Frank Lloyd Wright. I've been looking forward to this for a long time and it should be the perfect day for it (74-76 and sunny). Expect a full report.
